We are super stoked about the mild temperatures (on the East coast) we are experiencing this winter season. It allows for the perfect running weather. But, before you go on your next run, we want to share with you three secrets that will keep your runner's feet happy!
Remember the wonderful children's story, Goldilocks and the three Bears? Aim for just right... It's important to take this approach when it comes to the maintenance and recovery of your feet.
You don't want to remove too much or too little of your calluses or thick skin in one session. You don't want to remove to much skin and leave your feet raw. However, you don't want to leave on too much to protect your feet. It is best to use a gently and natural exfoliation process, nothing excessive. If you soak your feet in Lavish Touch Moisturizing & Exfoliating foot soak and use a pumice to gently remove dead skin. Be sure to always moisturize your skin after soaking your feet.
Find the sweet spot when clipping your toenails to ensure they are not too long or too short. Short toenails are in general helpful with maintaining the health of your feet. Especially since, long toenails can cause damage to neighboring toes result in gashes. We have seen this happen and it is nasty. Plus, you want to keep your toenails (overall feet) dry to prevent toe nail fungus.
A well known fact is that some runners have toenails to fall off due to trauma with running long distances. The best way to recover from this is to take care of your current nail and nourish the incoming nail. London's Pedisoaks Massage Oil doubles as a lovely cuticle oil with jojoba oil, carrot seed oil and tea tree oil, which encourages healthy nails. Plus our proprietary essential oil blend addresses aches & pains, which is a win-win. Simply apply a few drops to cleanse toenails or massage the entire foot concentrating on your toenails.
