HISTORY OF THE FOOT SOAK

Posted by Chris Loney on

Most people do not know the health reasons as to why they should soak their feet. It is a holistic health remedy that dates back hundreds of years. Back in the old days, it would be a a common practice to come home and soak your feet. Proper practice is to not only soak your feet, but also your calves.
Ancient Chinese & Japanese practice both believed in the importance of daily foot soaks and how feet are the foundation or root to our health. Daily foot soaks aid in blood circulation & health maintenance. Practices such as reflexology stemmed from this belief, which is a system of massage used to relieve tension and treat illness.
Combining the logic that our feet are the root to alleviate ailments along with our skin being the largest organ, you end up with a multitude of possibilities. The soles of your feet contain more sweat glands and sensory nerve endings per square centimeter than any other part of the body.
The right foot soak can detoxify, soften, exfoliate, relax and alleviate pain. The secret is the right ingredients in the right combination. Be sure to keep in mind that toxins released are processed by your liver and released through bile & urine. They do not ooze out of your feet.
Key ingredients are Dead Sea salt, Himalayan salt and Epsom salt. Also, melaleuca oil adds anti-fungal and antibacterial qualities.
Also, you need to soak your feet for a minimum of 15 minutes in order to reap optimum benefits. No matter if you do a cold or hot foot soak, you will love the way your feet feel afterwards. Most of us average 70,000 steps per week, let’s take the time to care of our feet. They are always there when you need them.

  • What I really appreciate about this post is how it is both educational and instructional. Most of us really had no idea how important foot care is for our overall health. Usually our feet get the least care but take the majority of the abuse and usage.

Thank you for explaining the why and how of foot care. Since you mentioned those three detoxifying ingredients, should we expect to see at least one of those in almost all of your products?
